What are some of the major learnings that you have applied in your organization?

My major learning curve was Systems thinking and how I should approach my current work environment. I learned not to think in silos or segments but holistically or try and phantom the BIG PICTURE before making an uninformed decision. It is better to provide a long-term solution rather than a short-term win as every choice you make as an IT manager will impact, Organization, Stakeholders, Employees, Customers, and business strategy. Transparency of information is vital, and the employees are the company’s most valuable resource and should always be acknowledged.

How are you equipped for management moving forward in your role?

All I can say is my whole approach to IT has changed. My mindset has grown and changed, and it provided me with direction. I finally know how I can add value and purpose to my organization and I feel I have so much potential in providing my organization and customers with innovative ideas regarding the “New Normal”. I have grown on a personal level and see things pertaining to my career and processes within my organization in a different light and feel nothing is impossible.

In your organization, mention some of the changes you would make to ensure that your role is more beneficial to the organization?

We have been working with the USA for 20 years on an outsourcing capacity. The need has come to explore other markets within South Africa however due to the complacency of Managers, it stifled and impeded growth. It’s important one think holistically and maintain the competitive advantage by always reinventing the business and finding innovative solutions to ensure you have the best interest of the organization and customers. This course helped me to address and see issues within my organization and importantly it made me aware of how I can implement future tasks and it is very important that IS systems solutions should always be aligned with Business Objectives.
